Can you believe Christmas is just around the corner once again and JMA is planning to keep the doors open all the way up to the 23rd then back on the 28th for three days before closing again for new years eve. We officially start our new year of training on the 4th January 2010!!
We have our BJJ seminar the weekend of the 19th date to be confirmed and are taking bookings now for anyone who would like a place! $40 a ticket to learn from one of Western Australia's best BJJ experts Adam Metcalf.
Thanks to Mark Longman for an excellent seminar today! A great time was had by all. We look forward to having you back for the next installment. This is a great style for anybody looking to get into the security or crowd control field, lots of nifty locks and take downs with very little effort....... Loved the finger locks and pressure strikes!!! Keep an eye on our site for our next seminar - Krav Maga and BJJ are next on the calendar.
Our Little Tigers program is going great!
With eight tigers training hard JMA's future is looking bright indeed. What a great feeling it is to have our future champions and instructors training with us from such a young age!
Don't forget Mum's and Dad's it's only with your support and encouragement that our little tigers keep motivated. Refer back to our sessions, keep the instructors words fresh in their minds and help us guide them to their black belts and beyond.
A parents support is essential. My parents never missed a grading or tournament and are the reason my training became my passion and my career! Show your Tigers how happy you are to see them training hard and they will repay you with all their effort and more.
Give your pre-loved prescription eyewear for recycling! JMA is supporting www.onesight.org.au in their goal to recycle the 1.2 million pairs of glasses needed every year to supply their international missions with enough eyewear to go around.
Help make a difference and donate your old prescription eyewear by either dropping them off at the Club (1/21 Franklin Lane, Joondalup) or take them to any OPSM store.
"Nearly every day, OneSight volunteers are helping the world see in their local communities, regions and around the world. Each year, OneSight conducts two-week Clinics in developing countries where our doctors and trained volunteers provide free eye exams and recycled eyewear to thousands of people in need. To date, we’ve run 155 Clinics in 31 different developing countries. OneSight operates five global recycling centers and has thousands of locations to donate eyewear around the world. OneSight needs to collect and recycle 1.2 million pairs of used eyewear annually in order to support 20 Global Clinics each year"

So, JMA has been open for 10 days now and what an amazing experience it has been so far! So many kind words and encouragement from close friends and new ones, it has been almost overwhelming.
I heard a wise man once say there is nothing more rewarding than to be your own boss, but I think to run your own company in a business that is about helping people is more than I could ever have dreamed.
I want to thank all the people who have leant their support over the last few weeks, my best mates Lee and Roy for helping with the fit out and leading the PR department and Meagan for your flyer distribution!
Will Powel from Powley Power for all the electrical work in the building, sorry for every phone call being last minute!
To Aeysha and Peter Standish thank you very much for your support and for the help in selecting our new waiting room floors.
Thank you AMF Bowling, Carol, Sandra, Travis and all the team you have been very welcoming to us and sorry for using your bin!
My brother in-law Nick and his glowing wife Debbie, thank you very much for your artistic touch and your excellent layouts for our flyers and business cards. To Enid, Tim and Tash thanks for all your support and advice. Your input has been invaluable.
A big thanks to Gary, Colin, Steven and the team at Alcom Fabrications, you've done an amazing job with the mirrors and with the installation of our new door the Club feel will be complete.
A special thanks to my Mum, Dad and sister without your support and encouragement the Club would still be a dream and thanks Dad for all the early starts and being there every time at the drop of a hat.
Finally, to my wife. Carla, Joondalup Martial Arts is only possible because of your hard work, patience, brains, creativity and love for your family. You are my heart and soul and none of this would be possible without you.
To all our new students, I look forward to training with you, getting to know you and shaking your hand at your Black Belt grading. It is an amazing journey and I can’t wait for what the future may bring.
The JMA Team!
We've known it for a long time but new research has shown that parental actions influence the activity levels of children!
Research from the University of South Australia revealed that children who perceive both parents to be active reported the highest sports participation, while those with neither parent active reported the lowest sports participation. A further study from Deakin University showed a mother's own physical activity levels appear to influence her promotion of physically active play.
So mum's and dad's come on down and try out either our Box and Burn program or Freestyle Kick Boxing and teach your children the benefits of physical activity while improving your own fitness at the same time!
