The New South Wales Southern Highlands town of Bundanoon will become the first in Australia to ban the sale of bottled water today.
Bottles of water have been taken off the shelves of businesses throughout Bundanoon ahead of the introduction of an official ban.
More than 350 Bundanoon residents voted in July to support the "Bundy on Tap" campaign.
Two months on and reusable plastic bottles are now being sold in shops and a number of water stations have been installed.
Bundy on Tap was initiated by Huw Kingston, who says the reusable bottles have proved extremely popular since sales began a week ago.
"Some of the retailers have sold 150 or so of the refillable bottles in the five or six days," he said.
"I know it's very much a novelty but they've been going gangbusters."
A parade and presentation will be held to launch the initiative
